Solitude. Isolation. Numbness. Misery.
Sam was alone. He laid on his silky velveteen couch watching the lights of Occidere Frater light up the city. It wasn't as beautiful knowing that out in that city, people were being starved, tortured and killed.
Six. Six was the number of people in Sam's family. His father died in the mines. His brothers were both killed in the games, and after his sister won her games, his mother took her away from him and went to hiding.
His friends were all dead or imprisoned and he lived in luxury. Velveteen couches, flatscreen televisions and king beds with fluffy cushions. His life consisted of shallowness. He was the survivor with a gaping hole in his heart. The one thing that got him through the day was his bottle of whisky. Somedays when he awoke, he forgot that Alice was dead. He forgot about his brothers and his sister and his parents. He forgot that he was a prisoner in his luxurious cell.
Sam hated how Conqueror Kenneth could just throw a bottle of whisky in his hand and put him in a nice room and think it would silence him. Sam had a temple in Occidere Frater. The people saw Sam as a prince, but all he was was a sad ghost of someone who used to be happy.

A/N: this is not me, it started based on me but it's a completely different version

Name: Olivia Palamara

Age: Let's go with 14

Appearance: Long, shiny caramel colored hair that goes down her back about half way between her waist and chest, a sprinkling of freckles across her nose and cheeks, and sparkling bright green eyes. Her skin is fair and she is about average height (a bit over) with a thin build and athletic build. Her eyes have brown flecks in them and long lashes, and she has a smallish, slightly upturned nose and straight teeth.

Personality: Athletic, and a bit of a career, not she ever expected to get picked though. She is very creative and imaginative with a lot of artistic ability, but was never really able to let it show thanks to her career family being all about the sports and preparedness. She's witty and clever with a lot of sarcastic comebacks, but tries not to get involved with rivalries and conspiracies and stuff. She always has a plan for everything and prefers to stick to the shadows in the games themselves but everywhere else prefers to be (and often is) in the spotlight. She's loud and can be obnoxious and a total chatterbox. Makes friends fast.

Social Class (Victor, Elite, Peasant, Slave): Peasant

Weapon of Choice: Sword, but she can also use a bow

Power (only if Victor):

Other: nopety nope nope

A freezing nighttime wind welcomed Stel as she was escorted out of the mines, nipped her neck, chilling her to the bone. But to Stel, the fresh wind was welcome after the hours of dusty, stale air that she breathed in the mines. She took a deep breath and tried to rinse her lungs of that horrible air, but the dust followed her, coating every inch of her body. She couldn't remember the last time she'd bathed and the dust of mining iron for the Elites mixed with the occasional blood from the whip, creating a putrid, sticky substance.
The Elites. Those spoiled little brats who couldn't appreciate what they had. Couldn't appreciate the fact that they had clothes, a home and their own freedom. Sure, some of them were orphaned, but in those days, almost the entire population was orphaned. Stel included.
She craned her neck to try and catch a glimpse over the mountains of the towering city that matched the wrinkles of earth's height. The capital.
"Move it!" An overseer growled at her, and she quickened her pace. But she had seen it. Despite herself, she appreciated the beauty of those buildings. She had been, once, before everything went to Hell.

Olivia's arrow hit it's mark, dead center in the bulls-eye. She smiled up at her dad, who was making her do this. "Look, I did it!" she exclaimed.

"I know," he replied. "Now do it again." She sighed and continued to shoot arrows at the target. She had just started working on arrows at her dad's insistence but hadn't quite mastered them except for a few lucky arrows. "You'll thank me some day, Olivia, when you win the Games and bring us a fortune and a new house."

"There is a very unlikely chance I'll get picked for the Games," she replied tartly. "I don't understand this training. It's like you want me to get picked or something."

"No, of course I don't," her dad replied. She knew it was a lie. He only cared about the money, not her well-being. If it was up to him, he'd bribe the lady who chose their names just so she could be in the Games. He had always wanted to be rich since they were living in poverty and people could see their bones. His greed overcame any love he had felt for her and so she trained. Her dad had just finished a hard day of work and yet here they were.

She expected the whip, but Amelia still recoiled when it struck her back. She muttered a string of curses as she towed a rusty wheelbarrow behind her, filled with fruit and vegetables that were to be loaded onto a train and whisked off to Victor Villages. While they would drown in buttery potatoes and well done steak, she could barely scrap up a full meal in a week.
She heaved a sigh and locked up her pace, imagining the train was just feet in front of her. She spat out the dust the whip had swept up into her face and continued to amble to her destination.
She didn't get to far before her master stepped in front of her path. "Spitting isn't ladylike," he chided sharply. "You may be just a petty slave, but I have a reputation, and it's not going to be ruined by you. Back to work!"
Amelia blew a dark curl out of her face. "If you wanted ladylike, run off to one of your skinny little girlfriends, you--"
Another whipping.
