Alrighty! So I got the A-OK to do a contest on here... I've been in the mood.
Now! For the theme!

This is a contest for Lafayette, one of the main characters in "The Sullivan House".
What's Lafayette like?
Lafayette is a troubled character, and throughout the story, is searching for his destiny, for his fate, and for his worth in life-after-death. He is a ghost, he's French, and here's the rundown....
Name: Lafayette De'quea
Nicknames: Yetti, Lafy Taffy
Age: 27 (eternally, since he died at that age)
Birthday: January 4th
City of Birth: Paris, France
City of Residence: Outside of Daingerfeild, Texas (United States of America)
Occupation: Before Death, banker's assistant
Personality--
+In Life: Very cheerful despite the situation; an optimist, caring and quite generous
+In Death: Cold and lonesome, very sharp and somewhat hot-headed... but pretends to be a ditz, and talks awkwardly to support it
History: Born to a single mother in France, he never had much. He and his mother were often poor, and there was nothing either of them could do when she died from disease. He was left on the streets when he was seven -- he was found and taken to an orphanidge.
At age nine, he was adopted into Szec's (pronounced C-zase: zase rhymes with vase) family. He lived there for the rest of his living existence, going through school and college as a young man. When he met and fell in love with his x-fiance, Szec poisoned him in an act of stealing Lafayette's bride. Ever since, Lafayette has hidden away in the Sullivan House, and does not trust anyone.... but that's changing.
Appearance: Black shaggy hair, black beret-ish cap, red bandana, black shoes, black slacks with a red stride down the sides, dark gray button-down shirt

SO! Write a story about Lafayette, either as a child (on the streets or with his mother) as an adult (on his own or with Szec) or in the Sullivan House, alone.
Note: In the Sullivan House, he takes residence in the attic.

Rules and deadlines...
Start Date: July 23, 2009
End Date: August 20, 2009

Entry Rules:
+ Must be 500+ words. Anything less will be disqualified.
+ May contain other characters, but MUST contain, at a minimum, Lafayette.
+ No gore, no higher violence. No fistfights, none of that.
+ Please, don't get too off subject. If it's a story about Lafayette, don't start writing about how much you loooooove bunnies.
+Enter your story as a KidPub story titled "Lafayette Contest:" then enter your own title for your story.

It's about Lafayette... him doing something. Read the history and stuff :3 You'll hopefully get an idea xD Read some of the entires that other people have posted (Haley and Gingy have posted very good entries) and do check the story version of the rules, that one is more commonly edited.
