What kind of scenes and what kind of characters? I'm lazy with backgrounds and I can't art as well as most people, but if I can, I'd like to offer at least a little advice...

My advice is that you should really study the technique of some artists that you admire and see if you can blend their art styles together in a simplified version, then move to a more similar version, and then add your own flare and touch so you can categorize it as your own style ^O^

dude that is like the best advice ever
so, yeah, pretty much exactly what lena said. look at the art you admire and practice with a bunch of different techniques. also examine things in your life you would want to draw, like animals or people. look for certain patterns that can easily be shifted onto the paper. (ex, noses look like triangles most of the time, (or triangular shapes), so when sketching, try drawing a simple triangle before going off on the more detailed picture.)

just draw a lot until you can find a style you like and branch off of. explore different ways you can become even more talented--different outlets and things to sketch--and soon enough, you'll be drawin what you like. :D but just draw a lot. seriously. you'll never get any better if you don't practice.

It's great so far! I'm not leaving for bootcamp until July (I have to graduate high school first) but at the moment I'm the Recruit Petty Officer in charge of everybody waiting to leave! It's pretty cool, I get to boss around a bunch of guys XD

(sorry to interrupt the art topic)
Speaking of art, since I'm visiting real quick, if you guys have any requests I'd be happy to sketch something up for you real quick, like the old days, haha! You guys always have the coolest characters XD
