And in Hickory Dickory, it says about the mouse running DOWN a clock, and if we're talking grandfather's clocks here, it'll pretty much be a 180degree fall! So it dies.

Yes, I agree. Random(yet it still applies to this thread) I would so go to a little kid's playground and wait for them to start singing ring around the rosie and then I'd run around in circles screaming "The plague is back!! RUN!!! EVERYBODY RUN!!!" I'm having a moment. Please bear with me.
