Although everyone had resigned to their separate beds, Melody was wide awake, sitting on the couch in the living room. Every light was off in the penthouse, and the curtains were pulled over the windows. Earlier, they had thrown a party that was sure to make even the neighbors yell at them-it the best one that Melody had ever been to, if not one of the best. Unfortunately, it was now a memory. All of the chairs had been pushed closer to the table, the plates in the trash can, and the soda bottles soon to follow. The only thing breaking the still, nearly-painful silence was the trickle of the electric fireplace below the TV.

There's nothing like a night in Las Vegas, Melody thought. She rose up from the couch, rubbing her eyes and throwing the blanket off.

Everything was as dark as night-well, except for a translucent curtain, illuminated by the lights outside. Were the lights coming from the neighbors on their top deck? Or could they have been coming from the Strip? Curiosity took over Melody. She had to find its source.

Pupils widening, the echo of Melody's feet in the stillness of solitude carried her to the curtain.

With a deep sigh, she threw it to the side and opened the porch door, not really looking at the world placed in front of her.

Melody lifted her head and gasped upon the sight. She was seeing, with her own two eyes, a gorgeous urban world. Lights shone across the Strip, beaming towards her penthouse. She could see everything from this view-the High Roller, the Luxor, the Stratosphere, the Bellagio. They proudly stood, towering above any other hotel nearby, and they shone brightest of all. It was uncontainable. Unbreakable. Untouched, like a perfect angel. It was the embodiment of a prized, sparkling jewel that could never be damaged.

Clutching onto the rails, Melody sighed. She wanted this world to last forever. She wanted to go to sleep knowing she'd see it again tomorrow. And the day she left this town, she wanted to glimpse the Strip and promise that she'd come back to witness it unharmed as always.

Going back inside the penthouse didn't matter anymore. Melody loved, lived for this multicolored planet, and she intended to stay with it for as long as possible.
