Hi peeps. I need to write a poem about the 1920s and the hardships faced so this is it. Can I get so CC?

They covered their skin in white

As if they were afraid

Of looking to much like us

Like it was a disgrace

Maybe it was

To them

From my bedroom window

You could see the park

The park where crosses burned

In sparks of red and orange

And you could hear their chants

Forcing their way into my dreams

Leaving traces of dirt

And ash

Through my head

Until it was me

They were burning

Not the cross

And in the morning

I would sprint to school

To afraid

To check over my shoulder

For white masks

And white robes

Or for my white neighbor

Or my barber

Because you never knew

What cloaks

Were hidden in their closets

If this is what they believed

Why did they hide their faces?

Blood fueled the fire they set on their crosses

Screams fueled their chants

And fear fueled their movement

But it pushed me harder

So I slept at night

And ran to school

And locked the doors

The windows

So I couldn't smell the smoke

The blood

And I survive another day
