I Am From

I am from the musty pages of my books
From silvery-blonde dog hair and pencil drawings.
I am also from the warm and quiet rooms and the spacious ceilings of my home.
I am from the faint smell of strawberries
Along with the feeling of unity and a veil of memories.
From the tree that droops over the lake,
that holds web-like strings of fishing line.
I am from the rose bush balancing scarlet blooms
I'm from singing songs and decorating the mantel
From copic markers and dog kisses,
From Eryan and from Bud.
I am from funny jokes and writing stories
And from tears that will forever stain my pillow
I'm from "Work hard" and "Don't give up",
From "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and gift exchanges.
I'm from Ohio and America,
Peppermint tea and potato salad
And from "Dog Hero" when my dog dove into Dale Hollow Lake after me when my dad threw me in.
The photos that hold perfect momemts
On a corkboard that hangs in my room
An unique me that is erasing my past and writing my future.
