Patient Peter

Darkness struck, as it always does
On those who put up little fuss.
Underground, the Hiltman boys
Though bat-blind, they heard the noise
Of both pains and joys.
Cat, a girl with great dignity
Was born of science's iniquity.
If a black cat cross your path,
It brings bad luck, fortune's wrath;
Silver Cats bring joy
Darkness can't destroy.
Peter Hiltman, wait!
Yes, the time grows late,
But when the silver Cat, your friend
Crosses your path again,
You'll greet at the gate
Her, the hand of fate.
Cat unwillingly was fate's hand
As she roared, "You don't understand!"
Painfully and blatantly,
As they talk complacently,
Peter, patient, stands.
In light, Cat's silver hair was lit
With the cold blaze of her spirit.
Peter loved her in the dark,
He loves her more; now she's marked
With anointing light,
And scars from her fight-
A fight she will lose.
They the law will use.
Cat falls in their hands.
Peter, patient, stands.
Peter Hiltman, wait!
Yes, the time grows late,
But when the silver Cat, your friend
Crosses your path again,
You'll greet at the gate
Her, the hand of fate.
