A Summer Poem

in wardly searching

August 23rd, 2018

We both rise up with the sun,

Addison, my darling,

And you tweet "good morning" sweet

As a little starling.

Wayward Hayley, heart of gold,

Young, not old, my heart,

Though it's fleeting, this one meeting

Memory shall chart.

Grammar slacking, courage lacking,

Splash and swim, my boy,

I'll remind you, tests will find you-

Passing brings you joy.

I am waylaid and well-paid

To keep you safe and sound,

By my tools, ye Foolery,

Won't be when I'm around.

Though it scares you, it prepares you

For a well-fought fight-

The grander soul swims deeper waters,

And has greater might.

Okay so I’m terribke at

Okay so I’m terribke at rhyming poetry and oh my Percy Jackson this is so good!
I love it because it flows so well and though it doesn’t envoke particularly strong emotions(most of the time I read poetry that has a tendency to be depressing or emotional) it’s really beautiful and joyful.
Do you know what Angelica said, when she read what you'd done? She said: "You've married and Icarus. He's flown to close to the sun."

Most poetry on here reaches

Most poetry on here reaches inward, which is often extremely powerful and beautiful. I like to try to reach upward.
