in a March to The Sea

April 14th, 2017

long hours,

no rest,

an endless road ahead.

no waves,

no gulls,

just the sound of a car instead.

all i hear is chatter,

About something called at "ocean"

That's all they ever talk about,

With such dear emotion.

But as for me,

i have never seen it before.

Never seen,

Never felt,

the sand between my toes.

never seen,

never felt,

the water on my clothes.

as the hours go by,

and so do my thoughts,

all of the children listen,

as we come to a stop.

with happy singing,

and cheers galore,

we are no longer stuck in the cars anymore.

One by one,

we run to the beach,

Now nothing is out of reach.

I pause,

I laugh,

as i feel the sand.

Oh, how it was grand!

the tide is rising,

the waves awake.

we all go running in, for goodness sake!

We all get nets, and look at creatures,

we even see their detailed features.

The water,

so cool,

so cleansing to the soul.

it swallows me up as a whole!

my spirit has lifted,

tears of joy on my face.

But the water washes it away,

and says, "no tears in this place!"

as the sun is setting,

and the bells begin to chime,

i think to myself,

"This is my very first time!"

A/N: hey. This is where i have been for a week. and....yes....i saw the beach for the first time :D.

CC: the phrasing is somewhat awkward, neither free-verse nor metered poetry.

The content of this poem though!! It sounds like your first visit to the sea was incredible. Was it as majestic and as poetic as you thought it would be?

Spero quod via tua est directa et quod tuum onus est levis.
